Howdy folks! Danny here. It was time to draw the 2001 Draconia Calendar to a merciful close. Those of you who have been reading these little blurbs thus far have probably gathered by now that I wasn't too pleased with how the 2001 edition came out. It was done at the last minute, and the rush is evident with how bare-bones some of the pieces came out. But that's not to say that there weren't a few diamonds in this giant pile of coal. I was particularly pleased with Elektra--so pleased, in fact, that Elektra would be brought back again and again in future calendars and stories. She and Gaia, as strange as it may sound, were the two shining stars of the "Class of 2001." This is another one of those diamonds. As was the case with Blue, we figured we'd bring back the most popular characters from the 2000 edition, and thus, Red came back for an encore. Even before we decided to focus on the elements in this calendar, Red was already clearly tattooed up as a fire dragon, so we held this spot for her. Just a flirty little demonstration of her power, as she kneels within... wait for it... a ring of fire. And, to those of you who feast on these little trivialities, you can feel free to turn on some Johnny Cash at this point and crank up the song of that name. There's also about 729 different cover versions of that song by just as many bands. Most of them will do just fine. Next time, we'll say goodbye to the sexy poses and launch what would become the foundation upon which we built The Draconia Chronicles webcomic, as we publish, for the very first time on the web, the 2002 Draconia Calendar. Prepare to have a LOT of questions answered. |
